FAQ's
Questions & Answers
Dogs
1. My dog is in poor health. Should I follow the recommended dosage on the bag?
After the first five days of introducing your pet to The Missing Link with the normal dosage, we suggest a double intake (The Missing Link Canine Formula) for the first three months. For advice specific to your pet, you should contact your veterinarian.
2. My dog is pregnant. Can she stay on The Missing Link?
Yes. The Missing Link supplements help to build up the immune system and regulate metabolism. Everything in The Missing Link supplements is natural. There are no preservatives, chemicals, or additives of any kind. Many customers have told us that their dogs delivered strong and healthy puppies while on The Missing Link.
3. My dog just had puppies. At what age can I safely start the puppies on The Missing Link?
The puppies can start on The Missing Link after weaning when they start on solid food. As with any new food or supplement, you should start with a smaller dose (3 teaspoon) and gradually increase the dose according to weight.
4. What benefits does The Missing Link Canine provide to older animals?
The combination of ingredients in The Missing Link (whole foods and concentrates, non-processed, and non-altered) provides the added natural nutritional benefits when coupled with any pet food available on the market (dry pet food, raw diet, home-prepared, etc.). The benefits include extra energy, good metabolism, reduced inflammation (arthritis), reduced pain and stiffness, and healthy skin and hair. Many clients have also told us that The Missing Link supplements help with drippy eyes within 90 days. The Missing Link supports overall immune system, reducing allergies.
5. I breed large dogs and I'm not supposed to supplement them with calcium. Can I feed my dogs with The Missing Link?
Yes. The Missing Link is a dietary supplement made from whole food and food concentrates. It contains only natural occurring vitamins and minerals and they are present in trace amounts only.
6. I have used The Missing Link for my dogs since you brought it on the market. I have been recently contacted by a company in my state that claims their product is better. Could you please advise me?
Thank you for being a loyal customer for so many years. Over these years we have had many competitors. Most of them don't exist any more (mostly because of poor ingredients or poor quality control). We are very proud that we were the pioneers of "good fats" (at a time when everyone was into "Fat-Free Food").
We have never talked negatively about any other products. We don't know the quality of their ingredients, processing, etc. I love our products, but it will be up to you to decide which product to choose. You already know what The Missing Link can do. We have worked hard for many years to make this product safe, natural, and healthy.
7. My little dog gags when he eats The Missing Link. What do you suggest?
The Missing Link supplement is dry. Moisten the food with water and that should help.
8. I have heard good things about The Missing Link, but I am not sure if it is right for my dog. I do not want to stress her kidney with certain elements. How much potassium is in The Missing Link Canine Formula?
The Missing Link products are not vitamin/mineral supplements. The vitamin/minerals that do occur in our products are naturally occurring and are generally present in small amounts. Therefore, there is no danger of "over-supplementation." Since The Missing Link Canine Formula is only 3 - 4% of the daily diet, you should monitor the other 96% of your dog's diet for vitamin/mineral content.
9. Why did you switch from glucosamine sulfate to glucosamine hydrochloride?
We switched from glucosamine sulfate to hydrochloride in The Missing Link Plus formulas because of the following:
a) Our Company's efforts are constantly directed toward complying with the AAFCO, FDA and USDA regulations.
b) Glucosamine sulfate is not an approved dog food ingredient by the AAFCO regulatory agency, but glucosamine hydrochloride is.
c) The recommended doses of glucosamine hydrochloride on our product labels are approved doses by AAFCO (per each pound of the animal's body weight).
10. What "dosage" of glucosamine and yucca are used in your canine and feline products?
We can provide you only with the amounts of glucosamine in each of our products. However, because our formulas are patented, we cannot provide you with the precise amount or percent of Yucca Schidigera. As with any product, the ingredients in our formulas are listed in order based upon the amount of each one in the product. Therefore, flaxseed is the primary ingredient, and yucca, being the last on the list, is present in a very small amount.
Amounts of glucosamine:
Canine - 500 mg in 1 tablespoon (8 grams)
Feline - None. Why? AAFCO does not allow use of any kind of glucosamine for cats.
