THE "FAT"STORY
One of the major reasons The Missing Link® line of superfood supplements was developed is that the "fat profile" of pet foods is sadly lacking for promoting optimum health in our companions animals. None is so lacking in this respect than the foods we provide on a daily basis to our canine friends.
Designing Health has completed a study comparing the fatty acid profiles of several well known (and premium brand) dog foods with that of The Missing Link® superfood supplements for dogs. All tests were performed by an independent testing laboratory.
The results strikingly set forth the story. Based on an 8 gram (one tablespoon) serving of The Missing Link® supplement as compared to a 100 gram (approximately 1 cup) serving of dry dog food, the study shows:
Dog foods, on average, delivered 74% of their total fat content as saturated and monounsaturated fats and only 26% polyunsaturated fats (the good fats).
The Missing Link® supplements, on average, delivered 69% of their total fat content as polyunsaturated fat (good fats).
On average, in 100 grams of dog food, only 0.34g (for all practical purposes, zero grams) of total fat is omega 3 essential fatty acid (EFA).
One tablespoon (8 grams) of the Missing Link® delivers four times more omega 3 EFA than the omega 3 EFA found in 100 grams (about one cup) of dog food.
The amount of saturated fat in 100 grams of dog food contains 18 times more saturated fat (bad fat) than one serving of The Missing Link® supplements.
The ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 in one serving of dog food is nearly 10 to 1. Of the "Good Fats" in dog foods, the Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio is extremely unbalanced.
Of the "Good Fats" in The Missing Link®, the Omega 3 is 2 ˝ times that of Omega 6 thereby correcting this all important Polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) imbalance on the poor fat profile of dog foods.
The story on fats in dry dog foods is clear. Supplementing your dog with The Missing Link corrects the extremely poor fatty acid profile of dog foods to levels that promote optimum health. To say it another way, The Missing Link® corrects the ratio of saturated to polyunsaturated fats, particularly the all-important omega 3 essential fatty acids, thereby promoting optimum health in your pet.
